What a
Great Time We Had.
We are
always sorry that more of our
members couldn't share in all the
fun at this annual event. It was
fantastic. Cruising all the way to
Mackinaw is always fun especially
when we get to stop in Gaylord and
eat at the Sugar Bowl Restaurant.
It's only an hour away from Mackinaw
so we are soon at our destination
after eating.
Mother
Nature cooperated very well, as soon
as we arrived at the motel, it
poured rain for about 1/2 hour,
giving us all a free car wash.
Naturally all the owners were out
there drying and polishing as soon
as the last drop fell. We ate well
that night at Audies Grill near the
Bridge. We naturally were having
soooo much fun that it was apparent
the management was about to ask us
to leave, but then the food arrived
and we all settled down.
We
adopted two new Prospective members,
Jim and Dee from the White Lake
Area. They were definitely taken
with our fun loving Club Members.
Jim was a hoot and kept us
entertained in his special way all
weekend. What a great couple.
Although
it didn't start that way on
Saturday. We received the
"obligatory" rain in the morning but
it cleared and WOW, what a great day
it turned out to be.
There
was a good cross section of vintages
with C5's winning hands down. Lots
of personal customs sporting the
numerous "add-ons" that can be
purchased to make your Corvette
unique to your personal tastes.
Most of these add-ons were very
tastefully applied and enhanced the
look of the Corvettes. Chrome is
definitely still a part of our
Corvette Hobby.
Our trip
across the Mighty Mac bridge after
the show was fantastic with dinner
at the Mackinac Grill in St. Ignace,
the food was awesome, and
considering the great company of all
our friends, it was a fitting end to
a wonderful day.
Of
course the ladies, and some of us
guys, enjoyed the chance to visit
the many, many, many shops. We all
spent to the max and came home with
many "Souvenirs" of our fantastic
weekend. My grandkids will, once
again, love me for going away (and
bringing them back presents).
So for
those of you that couldn't make the
trip, consider going with us next
year. It'll be great!
Thanks to Paul for the note about
the event.
Thanks to Nancy Kluska and
George for the
photos.
